Sage's Candy Coin

R. V. Pierce of Buffalo sold patent medicines under the name of "Dr. Sage". It is believed that Sage's Candy was a patent medicine, with these coins used in its promotion.

This mark is found on 1874 quarters, half dollars and Trade Dollars.

  The illustrated piece (ex Brunk collection) appears in a number of Gould's publications as a holed specimen.Brunk purchased it in the auction of Gould's collection, and had it plugged.

Parisian Varieties

Parisian Varieties 16 Street & Broadway, N.Y.
 
 Parisian Varieties was advertised in 1875 as providing a "lively and attractive entertainment". It soon became a burlesque house advertising "fifty handsome young ladies" and featured "Legs on the Brain" and "Satan's Venue"

The stamp appears on half dollars (40) and Trade Dollars.
